I like to design web sites in my spare time and started out as a hobby and still is, but since I started to design web site way back in 1997 when I started to learn HTML in 1997, I've designed over a hundred sites.
I also have helped with designing and development of sites with other people over the years but I've not got a record of these.
My God that's 13 years! I feel old now.
I hope you enjoy looking at my sites, as much as I had creating them.
The idea of this web site was to make a web page look like a notice board. This was one of my first web projects. I could do this in less that two minutes with the tools of today but back then it was handcoding in notepad.
When my friend and I were starting out with Web-Impressions we met Chrissy on a night out at comedy night. We asked her if she wanted a website and she gave us her details. We were too busy at the timen withy other things and we never did contact her. Chrissy has recently stared in the TV hit 'Benidorm' on ITV1. I can't believe we passed up the opportunity to work with someone from Televsion.
I wanted to create an online repositiory of bsuinesses which were searchable using this site. I never finished this site though as the time I could spend working on it was very limited and then more imporant projects took precedence and it was forgotten.
I was born and lived in bolton for 26 years and have become very proud of my home town. I deceided to collect all the information I can about Bolton, it's history, it's fame, it's businesses and create a site about it. I never actually finished this site as life kin of gets in the way of spending too much time on personal projects
As my dad if friends with the boss of Bolton Open Golft Club, he said that they might be interedsted in having a web site. I found a nice Golf template and modfified it to suit my needs. I created a quite nice looking and functional site. I never got in touch with the club so the site never saw the online world. I
This site was created in conjunction with a company called 1 Media. They mocked up the layout and I created a fully working web site from this. One Media's concentric circles were a pain to work with and cause so many nightmares, but I think together we achieved a good thing with this site and it worked well.
The fan club site hadn't been changed in years. I redesigned the site to mimic the look and feel of the forums that the club had. The lookwas created by Wendy from the fan club team but I worked hard to make the site and forums look more uniform.
This is an idea I had a long time ago which never came to fruition. It was a business directory, like the Ventures sites I'd created, but only for Cyber cafe's in the UK. I never got the time to finish this site and it never made it's way to the Internet
This site was created in conjunction with a company called 1 Media. They mocked up the layout and I created a fully working web site from this. This possibly wasn'r the best way to design a web site; but given the short timescale and they way the media was given to me, this is the best I could do. The site looks okay in 1024 x 768 but any higer and it doesn't quite work. It's not really a web site I'm proud off, but at the time it worked.
This site was created in conjunction with a company called 1 Media. They mocked up the layout and I created a fully working web site from this. I've since updated the site giving the company the facility to update their own catalogue.
Whilst working at Compu-IT we started to get web site work through advertisements on the Boton Ventures site. This is a design I created for a web site based on a label from one of the bakery's products. This design never got through to full production.
This was yet another update to the J.A.M. web site. I think this was worked on by both myself and my friend
I used xara Web style to create this web site for my friend.

I was a member of laser Quest from 1996 to 1998 and during that time I created a LaserQuest mini site for my own enjoyment. It featired lists of members names, the address details and various pictures
Whilst at College one of my friends did work experience with one of his relatives at The Market Hall in Bolton. After our course we both decided to pitch the idea of a proper web site for the market hall and this is what we came up with.
This site was created when I attended a Dreamweaver course at an acredited treaining provider in 2007. The site was based upon what we learnt during the course but I applied a full design using CSS
This site was created on the back of a Dynamic HTML table code which I found on a web site. I tried to used CSS for layout purposes. I implemented this wrong as the site looked odd in Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox. I've put this down to experience and
The idea for this site orginally came from a Simon Say's game. I was originally going to have a JavaScript Simon Says game on the site but decided againt it and just used the colours for the navigation.
I created this site by modifying a template I found online and fitting my site's contant into the template's design.
This was a site I created for a friend who was into his Music. I think this got him involved in web design too.
I redesigned this site as Web-Impressions became the name I use for my Freelance work.
This site was redesigned to match our new corporate look and to fit in with our stationary and clothing.
This site was a couple of pages. This site utilises the Microsoft-only tag IFRAME to load inividual pages containing ifferently embedded video files
This wasn't a huge makeover as version 2a was, but because I restructured and added some of the content, and also recreated new background images, it warrants a mention.
A local telephone shop was thinking about having a wbe site designa and Web-Impressions bid for this project. Unfortunately thios project fell by the way side and this web site never saw the light of day.
After a number of years they decide that they neede more traffic to their site and that a redesign of the whole site was required. They required an accessible web site which I achieved with the use of dynamic stylesheets
When Compu-IT ceased business and I started Web-Impressions, I took on hostong this compnay's web site, I rebranded their current site with their new corporate logo and coplours

I've been an aquainantice of Norman's for a few years and he has felt that he's needed to update his site for some time. This is a design I have recently come up with for his site and is based on his current "slide show - stand up tour". Norman likeed this design however he decided he needed a local company to redesign his site.
A long time coming - this is my current site design. I have achieved the sffect I was looking for, and I will be updating this site as it's a "work in progress"
When I started my new job in IT Support I felt the urge to update my site as it had ben a long time since my last design
This web site was my final project at Bolton Institute. Research a piece of Ecommerce software and them build a site with it. As S@fetynet Solutions Limited where looking to sell their products online, I offered to create a site for them in return for using their company as a case study.

Web-Impressions was asked to Re-design and re-develop the Intranet site for Yates's Group PLC. This site had a number of database-driven pages and static pages, which usrgently needed attention. Most of the databse-driven pages needed to be re-developed and implemented differently and some pages needed to be developed from scratch. This also meant that new databases needed to be created.
This is Web-Impressions first client site. Created for Club Mistry in Bolton, this site features information about the venue, and the ability to make reservations though the web site.

I am the Web Site Coordinator of The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club web site. I designed and created this site with content from other fan club team members,
This is the site you're currently viewing. I thought that updating 60+ pages everytime I wanted to update my personal site was going to be a pain; so I put the information from my Web Portfoio into a database, allowing me to separate content from design and make it a lot easier to manage.
I can't deny it, but I used to like the Spice Girls *cringe*. Well I started this site a few years ago to practice my web design skills. But never finished it. I then 'Sonifyed' it using the Beatnik plugin. This was done as part of the Internet 2 (LCT module).
The aim of this site was to demonstrate skills acquired in the Internet 2 (An LCT module). The skills that were shown we using Macromedia products such as Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash.
This site was created using web design techniques learnt in Internet 1 (An LCT module)
Wanting to try new technologies. I used a drop-down box for navigation of this site.
This site used frames. It had navigation across the top. A counter which was provided by Bolton institute. A typewriter Java applet was used to provide an introduction to the site.
This site used a table as it's main layout but giving the impression it might have been created using frames
I used this site to see if I could use frames in the way I wanted to. I don't think that this was one of my most greatest pages, and I was actually disappointed with the result.
When I started at Bolton Institute of Higher Education in September 1998, I was pleased to find out that we were allocated some Web space. This made me want to create a Web page to fill this Web space
For my final piece of project work at Bolton College, I decided to write a Web site for a local company called 'Dawson Technology'. This was also use to them as they had plans for a Web site themselves, though I don't know if they put the site live on the Web.
Once our course ended, and I was left to keep this site up. I updated it and linked to the Bolton College Web Site, but I closed the site soon after because I couldn't afford the time to keep it updated.
Our course tutor thought it might be a good idea to create a web site with ZIP files of our project work available for download; that would allow other students in our position to take a look at. I created this web site and hosted it at GeoCities.
created a frames version of the Bolton College Home Page. It was never used; but the new techniques I gained from creating them was useful to me, so I didn't mind.
While at college I found a copy of an old Web site, created by a class of students on my course, a few years previous; and I wanted to update it. This I did, and made staff at Bolton College think about what a Web site would mean to the college.
I then created a frames version of the Bolton College Internal Web Site (Intranet - v3). It also was never used
After our the initial Intranet had been graded by our tutor, I took it upon myself to rewrite the Intranet site. I did this because I have a desire to try out new designs and techniques I was learning. I did however, provide a link to the original site, to allow people to view mine and my classmates work.
This web site was for use as an Intranet (internal college web site), and was a team effort of all the students on the BTEC National Diploma in Computer Studies in 1997-98. This internal Web site was broadcast over the college computer network and was created as part of an assignment. I was one of the students involved in the development of this site.

Working for ComPu-IT, I was asked to write the sister company's web site. This is the new look Venture-IT.
This site was created alongside the first ComPu-IT site. This site was also to provide Basic Internet Services such as single web page presence. I wrote this site to advertise the fact.
This is a basic single-page web presence for a local company.
A local company asked me if I could create them a web site. This was the result; simple, yet effective.
One of our clients, whilst I was working at ComPu-IT. They provided me with a long document, and I designed the site around the content.
A local company wanted to see what web design skills I had, and at the time I didn't have good enough skills in creating graphics. This being said, whilst I was there, the project they gave me was to create a web site for LTL Limited.
This site was created for a local company which provides IT Services. This site uses drop-down box navigation and intra-page links

This was the final site I created for ComPu-IT, it was a great site featuring a database-driven dynamic pages, and a password protected Admin area to control a newsletter system. This site was never used.
This site is the first site I created from 'scratch' that uses Active Server Pages. Using Dreamweaver UltraDev as the development tool made this possible. This site was updated constantly, as the company needed.
This was yet another redesign of the ComPu-IT web site. This site was published on the Internet.
This was the second redesign of the ComPu-IT web site as the first was disregarded. This site also, never made it way to the Internet.
The ComPu-IT site needed a fresh new look, and this is what I came up with. This design never went live on the Internet.
I started working for a local company who wanted to provide Internet Services such as web site hosting and web site design. I wrote this site to advertise the fact.
A friend asked if I could create him a single web page for an event he was organising. This page was the result. He was very impressed and pleased with it.
TOTAL RED DWARF is my favourite site. I work on this site constantly. This is a huge site. I've been working on this site for years.
Being a fan of Red Dwarf, I've had a Red Dwarf section on my home page since my very first one. My Red Dwarf sections almost always had a black or starry background. Therefore I decided to separate it from my main site and create a Red Dwarf 'Only' site. This site was to become my favourite past-time.
I got bored of my previous design pretty quickly and so brightened the site up with a golden brown theme.
Being over six months since I last updated my site, I decided to redesign my site and having not used Frames in quite a while I thought it would be good practice to use them. I also had learnt recently how to create streaming audio in Flash and so wanted to incorporate this somehow.
I felt my site was in need of some life and so created this site using a funny caricature of myself on the home page
I had just downloaded the 30 day trial of Macromedia Dreamweaver 4, and was impressed with the Flash-button feature which had been added and so I redesigned my site based around the navigation.
I wasn't happy with my first site design for my new domain, so I decided to come up with something new.
When I bought my first ever domain name (www.paulgannon.co.uk), I wanted to create a site bearing the URL on the page. I used a Flash banner at the top for navigation. This was my first use of this technology, and wasn't very good actually :(
A very slight modification to the previous site, an awards page was added, and a web statistics button was added also
After I found my previous web site to download very slowly. I created this site using a table but giving the impression that it might use frames. Using very few image, I used an image from the background, but text links for navigation.
GeoCities, my host created a new corporate Logo (a fancy 'g'). So I redesigned my site once again, to incorporate this logo into my site.
I took this site down soon after, as it took too long to download (even on a T1 connection).
The only reason for this redesign was that I wanted to use the 'ring-binder' background image. No further explanation needed. :)
I again redesigned my homepage when and tried to use images, for navigation, in the way I wanted. I was quite pleased with this as it worked
This site was a visual front-end to all the web sites I'd created at the time, which I'd burnt to CD. The CD was a portfolio of my web sites
Created as a filler for my web space over the Christmas of 1997. I was updating my web site, and thought that it might be nice to have this site on my web space during this time. This was just a single page with a festive message
This site was my fifth redesign of my homepage. This used an image map as the main navigation. I used FrontPage 98 to find the image map co-ordinates, and used Notepad to write the rest of the site.
I was not impressed enough with this redesign, so this site was never available online.
A variation on my previous site. A frames version was added. And a background image was added.
Hosting my web site at GeoCities meant that I could be involved in the community of other sites, and so joined a web ring. This site featured another design which I was very good at the time
The third version of my home page used frames, and featured an image map for the navigation bar down the left hand side. This was my first experience of using image-maps (which was done by hand-coding, and getting the co-ordinates correct was a nightmare)
My second home page provided a frames and a non-frames version to my content. This was because at the time some broswers didn't full support Frames.
This was the first ever Web site that I'd created. It was not that bad for my first attempt at HTML.
