Bolton Institute of Higher Education

In 1998, I left college and started a course at Bolton Institute of Higher Education. I was excited to be studying for a degree in Leisure Computing Technology, and I loved it from day one.

The course was perfect for me. It combined my interests in computers, coding and web development, and it was at the cutting edge of technology. At the time, the World Wide Web was still in its infancy, and the course had two internet-based modules that involved web design. I was also able to learn about web programming, which was a new and exciting field.

I made some great friends on the course, and we had some amazing times together. We would often stay up late working on projects, or just hanging out and talking. I'm still in touch with some of them today.

The course was challenging, but I was determined to succeed. I worked hard, and I was rewarded with good grades. I graduated in 2001 with a Second-Class Honours degree (2:2).

I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have studied at Bolton Institute of Higher Education. It was a life-changing experience, and I wouldn't be where I am today without it.

These were my classmates. We had some great times over three years.

24-Hour Computer Room

This was a computer room accessible to anyone attending BIHE. I spent many a late night in here completing work due the next day. Sometimes until the early morning.

Based in Eagle Mall, this housed the Library and a few computer rooms where I spent most of my time whether it be studying (or not).
