Ramsay Street: A Lifelong Habit
I’ve been watching Neighbours since I was a kid. I know, I know—some might see it as a bit of a guilty pleasure, but I really don't care. I’ve loved that show for as long as I can remember. Growing up alongside the characters, it felt like following the lives of old friends through all their ups and downs. I saw cast members come and go, watched a fair few go on to become global stars, and stayed loyal through every single storyline.
Once upon a time, visiting Pin Oak Court—the actual street where Ramsay Street is filmed—and going on the official Neighbours tour was right at the top of my bucket list. I would have loved to see where it all happened in person. So when the news broke back in 2022 that the show was being cancelled, I was genuinely heartbroken. It felt like losing more than just a TV show; it was the end of a comfort routine and a community I'd been a part of for decades.
Then came the brilliant news: Neighbours was being saved by Amazon Freevee for a late 2023 return. Knowing mainstays like Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson) and Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy) were heading back to Erinsborough made the return well worth looking forward to.
When the new series premiered, I jumped straight back in. But as time went on, for one reason or another, I just... stopped watching. Life got in the way, routines shifted, and I drifted away from it without really meaning to.
Looking at where things are now, I reckon I’ve got about 12 months’ worth of Ramsay Street drama sitting in my backlog. Word is it's actually been cancelled again recently, which makes catching up feel all the more urgent. One of these days, I'll definitely sit down, hit play, and finally catch up on everything I've missed before it disappears for good.
