Pub #11 Burnley Miners Social Club
I've landed in the Burnley Miners Social Club, and I've already confirmed its best feature: the price! Like many social clubs, it’s certainly not the most expensive place to drink, which, in my book, is the most crucial characteristic of any establishment. Of course, a decent atmosphere helps, but sometimes you just have to create your own!
My partner, Gemma, and I are no strangers to the 'Miners'. On our first few visits, we realised we were by far the youngest patrons (and we're both in our forties!). You can imagine the age range in here! It immediately earned the nickname 'Cocoon' (after the film). When we came back, the demographic was similar, so naturally, it became 'Cocoon 2'!
Tonight, I’ve popped in alone, and it’s surprisingly quiet. Given it’s only 8:15 PM, perhaps the serious 'party-goers' aren't out just yet! Usually, non-members pay a small entry fee--around 30p--but tonight, the door was open as there was no cloakroom attendant.
Unbeatable Value
Now, on to the main event: beer prices. My pint of Guinness cost a staggeringly cheap £3.60. I challenge you to find a cheaper pint of Guinness anywhere in Burnley, or even further afield! I also enquired about the price of a Pinot Grigio for Gemma for our next visit, and that came in at the exact same price: £3.60.
You really cannot complain about that! These are genuinely amazing prices that make the Burnley Miners Social Club a must-visit for anyone looking for exceptional value.
It's now 10pm and I've not gone anywhere. I got involved in the DJ/karaoke and I've sung twice and got the whole club involved. I sung Gary Barlow - Let Me Go and The Proclaimers - 500 Miles (My go-to song haha). I then sung Angels by Robbie Williams. My last song is Don McLean - American Pie which is another go to for me (actually the song I want at my funeral). Haha nice thought, I know lol. I'm not morbid.
