Pub #4: The Bridge Beir Haus

The Bridge Beer House is a superb independent free house that stands out for its firm focus on German beers. Forget the usual tap line-up; this place offers something genuinely different. It's a fantastic spot for a relaxed afternoon, boasting a great atmosphere supported by friendly staff—who, in a nice touch, are well-known to the locals.

The pub grub here is excellent quality and, critically, offers serious value for money. A personal must-have is the Bratwurst, Chips & Currywurst Sauce at just £6.25—an absolute bargain. For those looking for something different, the Salt & Pepper Chicken Wrap is equally well-regarded and also comes in at £6.25.

On the drinks front, you'll note they don't serve Guinness, but this is a German beer house after all. I highly recommend the Dortmunder; it’s a brilliant, easy-drinking German beer and a steal at £4.40 a pint. While Gemma, opts for her reliable Pinot Grigio at £4.75 (which is a tad expensive for a small bottle), the cheap food and brilliant atmosphere more than balance the overall bill. A round of food and drinks here makes for a great, affordable afternoon out.
